Give Parents A Break

Dear Editor,

My children attend St Francis de Sales and on the morning of May 9, there seemed to have been a ticket blitz. Parents and children were scrambling, it was extremely dangerous and very chaotic. Parents were running for their cars to avoid getting tickets while children were trying to just get to school. Is the city that desperate for tickets??

There seems to be no available parking for parents while dropping off their children. We don't live in a society where it is safe for children of all ages to escort themselves to school, so I ask you, Where are we supposed to park?? They told us not to use Rockaway Beach Boulevard, so parents have been using the side streets of the beach block. Now that is no longer an option after parents received tickets on May 9. Obviously there is not enough parking (for the very few minutes we need) in relation to the amount of students that attend the school and are too young to walk alone. Whether this is an issue for the 100th Precinct or the DOT, someone needs to "Give us a break!"
