Irene Bach, a Rockaway resident for 18 years, died April 26.
Bach was employed as a transporter at the Ocean Promenade Nursing Home in Rockaway Park. She was the wife of local music teacher, Sanford Bach.
Bach is survived by her husband, Sanford; three sons, Harold, Arnold and Carl; and three grandchildren, Pamela, Sammy and Billy.
Interment was at New Montefiore Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York.
Caroline R. Carroll
Caroline R. Carroll, who summered in the Rockaways with her family for many years, died April 20. She had been living in Sound Beach, New York with her oldest granddaughter, Barbara Dallon, since 2001.
Carroll was born on February 14, 1921 in Rockaway Beach and grew up in the area. She met her husband, James Carroll, and was married on September 28, 1946 at St. Rose of Lima Church. After moving to Astoria, where they lived for 36 years, the couple summered in Rockaway with their children for many years.
Carroll worked as an office manager for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. She was an active parishioner at Precious Blood R.C. Church in Astoria, where she was a member of the Holy Rosary Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Carroll, in July of 1996, two months before their 50th wedding anniversary.
Carroll is survived by her daughters, Mary Jane (Candy) Mallin of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, Carolyn Hall of Wading River, New York and Barbara Jessen of Naples, Florida; son, James of Princeton Junction, New Jersey; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to O.B. Davis Funeral Homes in Miller Place, New York. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church in Rockaway Beach. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Woodside, New York.
John H. O'Grady
Retired NYC Water Dept. Laborer
John H. O'Grady, a Rockaway resident for 52 years coming from the Bronx, died April 25.
O'Grady, a retired laborer for the NYC Water Department, was born in Ireland.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilhelmina.
O'Grady is survived by his cousin, Mary T. McLeod and family.
Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Francis de Sales Church. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Woodside, New York.
Robert Thomas Waters
Robert Thomas Waters, a longtime Rockaway resident, died April 29. He was 44.
Waters was born in Brooklyn on June 1, 1962. He worked as horse groomer at Aqueduct Racetrack, and traveled with his horses to the Belmont and Saratoga racetracks.
Waters was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Joan Waters.
He is survived by his children, Aimee Welter, Joan Waters and Robert Waters; grandchildren, Lisette, Christian and Haillie; sisters, Kathy, Joann, Margie, DeeDee and twin sister Robin; and many other nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to Family Funeral Services Inc. in Arverne. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church. Disposition was at Rosemount Crematory in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
