SJEH Celebrates Nurses Week


St. John's Episcopal Hospital honored its nurses during National Nurses Week, May 6 through 12, for their caring, compassion and commitment. National Nurses Week highlights the vital role nurses play in meeting the healthcare needs of the community. St. John's nurse Debra Friedland, RNC, won the 1199SEIU Nurse of Distinction of the Year Award for the entire League, which encompasses the New York City area. Nurses from Cardiac Care Unit show off gifts that they each received, generously given by the Medical Staff. Pre-school students of the Brandeis School drew pictures of nurses, which were displayed in the lobby of St. John's. Clinical Nurse Supervisor Naasira Salahuddin, RN, points to a drawing on which was written, "I love Nurse Naasira . . ." Sallahuddin had held a teddy bear clinic with the Brandeis School students several weeks earlier.
