Twice The Art At RAA Reception
Once again all points led to the Rockaway Center for the Arts (RoCA) at Fort Tilden as the Rockaway Artists Alliance drew hundreds to the opening reception for "Of Land And Sea" and "The BIG Show" on Sunday, April 29. Previewed during the RoCA's Literary Festival in the RAA's sTudio 6 and sTudio 7 galleries, each show now comes into its own right.
"Of Land and Sea" celebrates the mystery and beauty of nature through art, while "The BIG Show" brings to life a playful palette of wonder with works measuring over six feet.
Previous RAA openings have attracted several hundred enthusiastic viewers and the combined gallery reception was no exception. Many attendees were first time visitors who expressed delight in discovering a "new" facet of Rockaway.
Many of the artists were also on hand, and musical entertainment was provided by Mary Kelly and Gustavo Lucin, two unique and talented performers. Later the musical arts were further spotlighted as several musicians played an impromptu session, harmonizing and melding musical genres.
The Rockaway Artists Alliance is looking forward to its next two exhibitions, "Shannon Elliot: One Woman Show" running June 2 thru June 24, with a reception on Sunday, June 3; and "Planet Animals" from June 9 thru June 24, with a reception on Sunday, June 10.
