Warm Weather Brings First Bay Water Rescue Of Season

An errant boater who was trying to launch his boat into Jamaica Bay from the Beach Channel High School boat ramp fell into the bay as fishermen watched from the shore on Friday afternoon, April 20. A fisherman called 911 and police, firefighters and EMS responded. Pictured, the NYPD's Harbor Adam stands by the small boat. While the boater's friend finally helped to pull him back into the boat, the police put two Scuba divers into the water to assist.
