Rockaway Point Vollies Finalists In Contest
The Rockaway Point Volunteer Fire House has been chosen as one of ten finalists in an "Across America" contest, which will hold online voting starting April 28 to determine the winner.
The contest, sponsored by firedog , was open to all fire houses across America and called for essay submissions on how a local fire house has demonstrated outstanding service to their community.
Maureen O'Malley of O'Malley Irish Dance Academy, who holds her classes at the Rockaway Point Volunteer Fire House, submitted an essay about the volunteers and their dedication to the community. On April 3, O'Malley received a phone cl congratulating her and the Rockaway Point Vollies for their distinction as one of the final ten fire houses in the running for the competition.
From April 28 to May 13, residents across the country will have the opportunity to vote for the fire house of their choice. Video clips along with the winning essays of the finalists will be shown on the contest website.
Show your support and appreciation for the Rockaway Point Volunteer Fire House's hard work and dedication to Rockaway Point and surrounding communities by logging on to www.firedog.com (look for the firedog Across America feature) and voting for them.
The firehouse with the most votes wins a monetary award to be used for fire and rescue equipment.
