RDRC Hosts Earth Day Exhibit April 26

The Rockaway Development and Revitalization Corporation (RDRC) Beacon Program is hosting its first annual Earth Day Exhibit at Goldie Maple Academy- PS/MS 333 on Thursday, April 26 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. An awards ceremony will follow at 5:30 p.m. Over 70 children will be participating in the exhibit, sponsored by Keyspan, LIPA, NYC Department of Sanitation, Assemblywoman Michele Titus, Dunkin' Donuts and the RDRC.

The purpose of the exhibit is to increase children's awareness about the environment through the arts, project displays and essays. This year's theme is focused on energy conservation and recycling projects the children have designed in celebration of Earth Day.

Goldie Maple Academy is located at 365 Beach 56 Street in Arverne.

Since 1992, the RDRC Beacon Program has served as the community's town center for local events and activities, offering after school tutoring, homework assistance, computer training, community service projects, a full day summer day camp and more for children ages six to 13. High school youth are offered computer instruction, mentoring and leadership development, dance, theatre, college preparation and tours, as well as other services.
