The St Camillus Special Olympics - Rockaway Beach Special Athletics team- recently spent a wintry weekend at Ski Windham. On Friday, the athletes and their families participated in a night of tubing and pizza. On both Saturday and Sunday, the athletes spent the day skiing under the instruction of the Adaptive Sports Foundation.

On Saturday night, an awards ceremony was held at the Adaptive Foundation's lodge complete with franks, burgers, etc. cooked by Barry Resnick and Tommy Ryan.

Special thanks must be given to the members of the Rockaway Community who are volunteer instructors for the Adaptive Sports Foundation at Windham.

These include Ed and Mary Ellin Carroll, Flip Mullen, Danielle Stathis, Sean Kearney, Devin Nusyer, J. B. Weber and Rocky Dorogoff. A big thanks goes to Rita and Flip Mullen for their planning efforts in making this weekend so successful for our athletes.

Thanks go to Alice Burke who took care of the food ordering. Councilmember Joe Addabbo also deserves praise because of his allocation of funds from the Department of Youth and Community Development for this trip as does Mary Ellen Olsen of the Graybeards who did the paperwork for that grant.

Finally, we would like to give a huge thanks to the athletes from their many supporters in the Rockaway Community who make this winter experience financially possible.

Sorry if we left anybody's name out.
