The Inner Voice

Commentary by Marilyn Gelfand

Commentary by Marilyn Gelfand

I want to wish a very happy holiday to everyone celebrating at this time. Remember to keep everything in perspective, to make the holiday what you would like it to be, and overall to fill yourself with love and appreciation that we have the health and freedom to do what we want.

In this time of experts and advisors, once in a while it is good to take stock of what we really want in the big and small events and relationships in our lives. Holidays are good times of awareness to know if we are really spiritually involved in what we are doing in the present moment or are we just performing in a robotic manner to get things done because it is expected. Let your own spirit lead you into making each moment in life what you would hope for. Our hopes are just our preferences for what we would like, and we must accept reality to not create our own suffering.

With our hopes and our ability to accept reality as it unfolds, humor can help us through the unexpected, and love is always there to help us arrive at the next moment. In this way, we can live grounded in reality, trying to create what we believe will give us happiness and have the ability to enjoy life through the ups and downs. So, if company is coming to you for your holiday, bring a beautiful energy into your home, imagine all of your guests arriving bathed in a beautiful light of peace, and then let go and enjoy.
