Goldie Maple Academy Celebrates Black History

Parents and children anxiously await the start of the show celebrating Black History. The Goldie Maple Academy, through the collaborative efforts of students, faculty, PTA members and the Rockaway Development and Revitalization Corporation (RDRC) celebrated Black History with performances by the after-school drama program on Friday, March 2.

Over 150 adults and children attended the event, which included poetry reading, African dance and music. Parent volunteers helped set up, clean up and serve food and refreshments.


Students dressed in costumes for the African dance. Many students are involved in the Goldie Maple Academy's after-school African Dance and drama programs. Other groups of students performed dance routines in other styles.
