Vincent L. Chase
Vincent L. Chase, a Rockaway resident for 15 years coming from Brooklyn, died March 2.
Chase was born in Brooklyn. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, and was a member of the Daniel M. O'Connell Post #272 of the American Legion. Chase was retired from his sales position with J.C. Penney at the time of his death.
Chase is survived by his father, Rufus Chase; wife, Arlene McAllister Chase; children, Lorraine, Darlene, Kevin, Onzelo, Andrea, Cheryl and Richard; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home, with a service held at the funeral home. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York.
Joan Ann Edert
Joan Ann Edert, a Rockaway resident for 35 years coming from Brooklyn, died March 3.
Edert, who was born in Brooklyn, worked as a secretary. She was a member of the St. Francis de Sales Sea Breeze Club.
Edert was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Hale. She is survived by her husband, Herman Edert; children, Richard, James, Rita Hunt and William; grandchildren, Meaghan, Thomas, Christina, Daniel, Keri, Nicholas, Douglas and Justin; great-grandchildren, Alexia and Logan; and sister-in-law, Joan Hale Loeffler.
Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Francis de Sales Church. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York.
Otto C. 'Mickey' Miller
Former Rockaway Resident
Otto C. "Mickey" Miller, a former Rockaway resident who resided in North Patchogue for the past 14 years, died February 22 at Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre. He was 89.
Miller, a carpenter contractor, was born and raised in Rockaway Beach. He was a graduate of Far Rockaway High School.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith C. Miller (nee Rutter).
Miller is survived by his children, Richard (Marcella) of East Patchogue, George (Gail) of Inwood, Robert of Florida and Susan Fallik of Arizona; grandchildren, Donna Politano, George Jr., Kenneth, John, Timothy, Jennifer Miller, Audra and Jesse Fallik; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Diener of Wantagh.
Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to the Meserole Funeral Home in Inwood. A funeral service was officiated by Reverend Dwight Lee Wolter of the Congregational Church of Patchogue. Interment was at Pinelawn Cemetery in Pinelawn, New York.

Former Rockaway Resident
Apolonia Rodriguez, a former Rockaway resident for 25 years, died February 25. She was 73.
Rodriguez was born in Yauco, Puerto Rico on November 5, 1933. She was a housewife.
Rodriguez is survived by her children, Angel L. Ortiz, Jose A. Ortiz, Edna I. Basilin, Mary Barroso, Zoraida Ortiz, Solrita Ortiz, Gustavo Ortiz, Celia Ortiz, Julian Ortiz, Salvador Alego; her in-laws, Dilma, Iris, Martha, Michael and Raymond; grandchildren, Karina. Luis A., Amy, Francis, Jeffrey, Mary, Cindy, Anthony, Celia, Joseph, Johnny, Jamiyla, Stephany, Ryan and Mikkel; great-grandchildren, Ariel, Romeo, Joshua, Hazel, Arron, Aaron, Jaecinda, Christopher, Hailey, Dominick, Justin, Anthony, Ethan, Marcus; and niece, Yolanda Garcia.
Funeral arrangements were kept private.
Lillian Smith, a Rockaway resident for more than 40 years coming from Levittown, died March 4.
Smith, who was born in Brooklyn, was a homemaker.
She is survived by her granddaughters, Denise Sullivan and Michele Royston; and great-grandsons, John Lang and Christian Royston.
