On February 11, 2007, the day was cold and freezing but it was blazing hot indoors at the World Champions Karate Center as nine students sweated and answered a bevy of questions in demonstrating their expertise in Kata, Kumite and Kobudo. After five hours, they earned Shodan, which is the coveted black belt.

Sensei Bruce Hodes and Sensei Samer grilled and drilled the students in all aspects of their previous years of training. The students came up all winners. Each one was awarded the Shotokan Black Belt.
