      Today, February 23, marks the sixth anniversary of the death of Wave publisher Leon Locke. Though both Rockaway and this paper have changed in innumerable ways since his death, his wife, Susan, continues his dedication to the truth and to community journalism, factors which live on in each issue of The Wave.

      It seems clear now that the Democratic City Councilman who represents Rockaway will be leaving us in 2008 to run for the State Senate seat now held by Republican Senator Serph Maltese.

Nobody Asked Me, But… (Life And Death Edition)

      Nobody asked me, but... Three men who had a large impact on me as a teen and young adult but who are probably largely unknown by anybody under the age of 40 died in the past two weeks. And, although I haven't thought of any of them for some time, I was saddened by their passing nevertheless.
