Last weekend was an impressive performance for a few members of the Bishop Kearney High School Indoor Track Team. Kerri Gallagher competed in the Colgate woman's games at Madison Square Garden earlier this month in the 800 meters. She captured third place and shattered the school record in a time of 2 minutes and 20 seconds in the half mile race.

She received a $250 education grant and Trophy from actor Bill Cosby at the Colgate games.

Gallagher and the Bishop Kearney track team also captured the Brooklyn Queens Championship held at the Armory Track and Field Center in Washington Heights the following day.

In the 1000 meter race, Gallagher ran an outstanding time of 2 minutes, 58 seconds and finished in the second place. The feat not only broke the school record but it also helped to secure a trip to the state championships.

Tara Mullen (Belle Harbor) led the team with a spectacular debut in the 3000 meter 15 lap race.

Kerri and Tara along with Sarah Donahue (Rockaway) and Meaghan Hayes helped the team secure an impressive seventh place finish overall in the city championship.
