Sanders Salutes City Through Gospel
Councilmember James Sanders Jr. will sponsor the "4th Annual Salute to Gospel" at City Hall on Wednesday, February 21, with a reception and awards ceremony starting at 5 p.m. and the gospel event kicking off at 6 p.m.
The televised event will host some of the biggest stars in the gospel world today. The "Godfather" of gospel music, Elder Timothy Wright and the New York Fellowship Mass Choir lead the way of gospel acts to headline the event. Local churches will also have their shine, with upcoming groups such as "New Genesis."
Community faith-based leaders from across the city will be honored during the awards ceremony for their unwavering dedication to helping residents and their community needs. The evening will overflow with good food, good music and good times, according to Sanders.
"It brings me great pleasure to host the 4th Annual Salute to Gospel at City Hall. I encourage every person of every race and creed to come out and revive their spirits. There is no better time or way to honor the struggle of those who made days such as this possible," said Sanders. "Let us remember the turbulent journey that was taken by those enslaved, so we can strengthen ourselves for the future. This event is a reminder of both the hardships and triumphs that those before us had to endure."
Free transportation is available for senior citizens only. Limited space is available. To ensure a seat, contact Councilmember Sanders' Laurelton office at 718-527-4356 and ask for Lisa Emanuel.
