Barnett, Sklar Named PHC's Top Employees
Peninsula Hospital Center and Peninsula Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation (PCECR) recently chose its February Employees of the Month. This month's honorees included Leslie Barnett, a patient access registrar, assigned to the Emergency Department and Sharon W. Sklar, ACSW, a social worker assigned to the Adult Day Health Care Center.
Barnett, also recognized for her ten years of perfect attendance, works as a registrar in the Hospital Center's extremely busy emergency department on the 3 to 11 p.m. shift where she is regarded as a competent, dedicated, professional employee who performs her duties in an exemplary manner. According to her supervisors, Barnett treats everyone with a generous level of courtesy and respect. Her peers find her to be kind and considerate and she is known for always being willing to undertake any additional work that comes her way. She is a true professional with staff, patients and visitors alike. Leslie will be retiring at the end of February after 20 years of service and she will be missed by all.
Sharon W. Sklar, ACSW has been named the February Employee of the Month by the Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation. A 22-year veteran of PCECR, Sklar is the Social Work Supervisor of the Adult Day Health Care Center. The director of the program, Joyce Little, RN, calls Sklar…"relentless…dedicated and compassionate, knowledgeable…the consummate professional who truly exemplifies what is to be an advocate for the rights of the elderly from bottom to top." Her peers consider her to be highly motivated, organized and dedicated to the job at hand with the unique ability to deliver her special brand of assistance to those who really need it. Perhaps the most glowing accolade to Sklar came from one of the ADHC participants who wrote, "It is wonderful to know that there are still people in the world who believe and take their position seriously. Sharon touches lives with a small helping hand and she makes a difference."
The Employee of the Month Program is designed to recognize employees who consistently exemplify all aspects of PRIDE (Professionalism, Respect, Initiative, Dedication and Empathy).
