Hearts And Shamrocks Dance Starts St.Pat's Season
The 32nd annual Hearts and Shamrock Dance, held at St. Camillus Church's Springman Hall, kicked off the countdown to the Rockaway St. Patrick's Day Parade. Acrowd of over 300 people filled the hall and enjoyed music provided by the Black Velvet Band featuring Michael O'Rourke and Jimmy Walsh, and a corned beef and cabbage dinner.
The Breezy Point Catholic Club Pipe Band marched in with this year's honorees, who were led by grand marshals Kevin Kelly, a business agent for Local Union 46 Lathers, and Edward Ford, president of Local 30 International Union of Operating Engineers. Rounding out the list of deputy grand marshals is Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer, State Senator Malcolm Smith, Martin Feeney, Kelly Feeney, Ellen Peppard, Matthew Gorton, Warren Scullin and John Kimball.
The dance leads up to the gala installation ball at Antun's on Saturday, February 17, and the parade on Saturday, March 3.
