Union Engineer Apprentice Program

The International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 30, will conduct recruitment for 50 stationary engineer apprentices from February 5 through February 16, the State Labor Department announced.

Applications can be obtained at the local, located at 115-06 Myrtle Avenue in Richmond Hill, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Completed applications must be returned or postmarked by March 9.

The union requires that applicants:

Be at least 18 years old;

Have a high school or general equivalency diploma;

Take an aptitude test. Pay $25 test fee by certified check or money order. Cost will be waived with proof of inability to pay;

Be physically able to do the


Have reliable form of transportation to work and class.
