Kerri (The Rockaway Glider) Gallagher from Belle Harbor qualified this past weekend to race in the women's Colgate Championship that will be held in Madison Square Garden.

Gallagher competed against the best high school girls half milers in New York City after four grueling weeks at Pratt University, Kerri advanced as one of six runners who will compete this Saturday February 3, 2007 in Madison Square Garden.

Kerri ran a smart and tactical race right from the sound of the starters' pistol to her final trademark finishing kick. Gallagher ran a personal best and set a new Bishop Kearney High School record on her way to qualifying for the championship.

She ran a blazing time of two minutes 21 seconds for the half mile event. The grand prize of the race will entitle the winner with $1,000, which will be designated for her education.

This is a great honor and achievement in reaching the final six and to grace the historic Madison Square Garden banked track. The best of luck to Kerri and thanks for making Rockaway proud.
