New Adult Ed Classes At PS/MSchool 183Q

Pictured: Arturo Becerra, ESL Instructor, with his class. Pictured: Arturo Becerra, ESL Instructor, with his class. In order to provide more assistance to residents, families and children, PS/MS 183Q is hosting free Adult Education Classes, according to PS/MS 183Q Principal Renee Peart.

The classes are offered through the NYC Department of Education Office of Adult and Continuing Education, in order to increase educational and occupational opportunities to interested individuals.

Basic Education/GED classes for adults ages 21 and over are offered Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon. English as a Second Language (ESL), for adults with another primary language, will be held Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The school also offers a GED preparation class for students 17 years of age and older on Tuesdays at 9 a.m., taught by Willie Martin of The African Center in Jamaica.

PS/MS 183Q, located at 245 Beach 79 Street, is open to the public and willing to accommodate anyone seeking higher education opportunities. Students must bring in photo identification to enter the school.
