School Bus Accident Sends 19 Kids To PHC
Nineteen students on their way to the Scholar's Academy on Beach 104 Street at about 8:30 a.m. wound up instead at the Peninsula Hospital Center on Thursday morning, when an errant automobile and a school bus operated by Atlantic Express met on the corner. The students were evacuated from the scene by the Emergency Medical Service's large Major Emergency Response Vehicle. Word spread quickly through the west end of the peninsula and parents rushed to the hospital to make sure that their children were not injured in the crash. Liz Sulik, the Director of External Affairs for the hospital center told The Wave that all nineteen students had been examined and all were released by 11:15 a.m. Sulik said that there were some minor scratches and bruises, but otherwise, everybody was fine. The great majority of students went back to school for the day, but some were taken home by their parents, Sulik said.
