Fontbonne Hall Swimming Strokes Past St. John Villa
Sunday, January 14th found the Varsity Bonnies of Fontbonne Hall Academy swimming against Saint John Villa High School, of Staten Island. The Bonnies entered the contest with a 5-2 record in the dual meet season.
Villa's swimmers showed some strength in the breaststroke and backstroke events but the depth of the Bonnies squad carried the meet.
Senior Lauren O'Hara led the team with a first place finish in the 200 yard IM (3:02.6). In the relays the depth of the Fontbonne squad showed, the 4x50 IM relay finished 1st, 2nd; 4x50 free relay finishedfirst, second and third and the 4x200 free relay 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
Other individual finishers included Katie Losquadro 1st in the 200 free, (2:41.1), and Elaina Anastasio 1st in the 500 freestyle, (7:13.3).
Sporting a 6-2 record the Bonnies look forward to a tough match next week against perennial powerhouse Notre Dame Academy of Staten Island.
The Fontbonne swimming profile is on senior Janine Crivelli, a resident of Saint Anselm's Parish where she swam for the Saint Anselm's CYO while in grade school. After entering Fontbonne, Janine joined the Bonnie Varsity swim team as a freshman. Janine has swum the last four years, specializing in the Breast stroke. She has no plans to continue swimming competitively in college where she hopes to study something in the math and science area, perhaps accounting or engineering.
Janine is considering attending, Marist, Manhattan, Siena, Scranton, Lafayette, Boston University, Villanova or Cornell.
