Known as the "Velvet Teddy Bear," Ruben Studdard is most recognized for winning the second season of American Idol, and being the first male to hold the title. His first album, Soulful , debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart and went on to sell over 1.8 million copies. This album attained the highest first week sales of any idol winner and was acknowledged with coveted awards and nominations from the Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, BET Awards, NAACP Awards, Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Awards, Billboard Awards, and Teen Choice Awards.

In 2006, the talented Ruben Studdard released his follow-up album to Soulful, The Return.

This album reinforces the fact that this successful American Idol winner truly deserves his title. Studdard's music is soulful and romantic, while combining R&B with pop. His easygoing style and rich voice have been compared to Luther Vandross and Marvin Gaye. The tracks on this album are about love, heartbreak and club hopping. Most importantly, this record gave Studdard the opportunity to show his fans who he really is through the music he loves.
