From The Rockaway Postmaster's Desk

Commentary By George P. Buonocore

George P. Buonocore With the new federal laws mandating a passport when leaving the country to travel to a number of island destinations, the Postal Service sympathizes with the people who tried to get their passports in order during the past few workweeks within the hours that are available. We understand that a number of people who learned of the new laws at the last minute could not travel because they could not get their passports in a timely manner.

So, for the convenience of our local customers, the Far Rockaway Post Office will hold a Passport Fair on Saturday February 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. At that time, our passport specialist will be available to answer all of your questions and assist you in processing your passport. With this new law in effect the passport agency is overwhelmed with new and renewal applications, you should apply as early as you can so that you get it in plenty of time. Look for our ad in next week's Wave with a breakdown of all the prices and requirements so that you can be prepared.
