Angel Arcentales, a Rockaway resident for 25 years coming from Brooklyn, died December 29.
Arcentales, a Sergeant for the NYPD Intelligence Division, was born in Brooklyn. He was also the Vice President of the NYPD Hispanic Society.
Arcentales is survived by his father, Fausto Arcentales; mother, Maricela Marte Arcentales; brother, Michael Arcentales (Marie); sisters, Aracelis and Marilyn Arcentales; fiancé, Susan Rodriguez; nephews, Caleb and Connor; and niece, Anna.
Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Camillus Church. Interment was at St. John's Cemetery in Middle Village.
Loretta Z. Arnove
Homemaker, Peninsula Employee
Loretta Z. Arnove, a resident of the Langston House in Clifton, South Carolina and a former Far Rockaway resident for 20 years, died December 31 at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood, S.C. She was 75.
Arnove, who was born in the Bronx, was a homemaker and also worked at Peninsula General Hospital. She was a member of the Wellness Center in Greenville, S.C.
Arnove was preceded in death by her parents, Eli and Lena Siskin Ziskin, and her husband, Louis Arnove.
She is survived by her daughters, Marta A. Fuller (Bobby) of Laurens County, South Carolina and Gail A. Santorella of Lynbrook; son, Israel Arnove (Theresa) of Baltimore, Maryland; brother, Sol Ziskin (Blossom) of Brooklyn; sister, Bess Herschman (Monroe) of Tarmac, Florida; grandchildren, Larry Fuller (Jennifer), Jenny Tollison (Jarrod) and Louis Santorella.
Private funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Kennedy Mortuary.
Helen M. Crocker
Helen M. Crocker, a Rockaway resident for four years coming from Howard Beach, died January 2.
Crocker, a homemaker, was born in Queens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas F. Crocker; sister, Winifred Crocker; and daughter, Virginia Jablonski.
Crocker is survived by her sons, Daniel W. Crocker, Matthew Crocker (Nancy) and Thomas Crocker (Jane); daughters, Patricia Baltera and Eileen Reisig (John Rooney); son-in-law, and Ronald Jablonski; sisters, Mary Theresa Stimus, Anne Leydon and Virginia Leydon; grandchildren, Katie, Danny and Carolyn Crocker, Kevin, Christine and Jacqueline Baltera, Christopher Reisig, and MaryEllen, Laura and Elizabeth Jablonski.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday, January 5 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Church in Howard Beach on Saturday, January 6 at 9:15 a.m. Interment will be at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York.
Rosie Lee Grant Hopson
Longtime Rockaway Resident
Rosie Lee Grant, a longtime Rockaway resident, died December 16. She was 76.
Hopson was born on May 6, 1930 in Wylam County, Alabama to the late Benjamin and Nettie Grant. She received her education and later met Andrew Hopson, who she married on September 20, 1947. They moved to New York where they raised their children, Pete, Andrew and Diane, in Rockaway Beach. She was known as "Mama Rose" to many in the community.
Hopson was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Arverne.
She is survived by her sisters, Nettie Hood (George) and Janie Mack; son, Pete (Reatha); daughter, Diane Boylan (Paul); granddaughters, Claudette, Sherry, Daneen, DeNota, and Sharene; grandsons, Terrance, Wayne, Terrel, Lonnie, Andre, Kenny, Jeffery and Sean; and many other relatives and friends.
A service was held at Macedonia Baptist Church. Interment was at Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York.
Mary Jenkins, a longtime Rockaway resident, died December 24.
Jenkins, a nurse, was born on December 29, 1950.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy Jenkins and Wilhelmina C. Jenkins.
Jenkins is survived by her son, Steven Jenkins; grandchildren, Satyn and Steve Jr.; oldest sister, Linda Jenkins Jones; brother, Charles Jenkins (Michelle); youngest sister, Kandice Jenkins; nieces, Kadijrah, LeShelle, Jazzmin and Myckel; nephews, Edward, Chaz, Dante, Robert, Jordan, Chase and Jeremy; cousins, Eleanor, Esther, Robert Jr. and David; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to the East End Funeral Home in the Bronx, with a service held at the funeral home. Interment was at Rosedale-Rosehill Cemetery in Linden, New Jersey.
Mary E. Madden
Mary E. Madden, a Broad Channel resident, died December 24. She was 79.
Madden, a clerk, was born in Rockaway Beach. She was a parishioner at St. Virgilius Church.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Madden; mother, Katherine Harris Madden; and father, Frank Madden.
Madden is survived by her nieces, Linda Madden Ventimiglia, Ann Madden Goodrich, Mary Madden and Alice Madden Schrieier; nephews, Charles Madden, Michael Madden, Timothy Madden and Thomas Madden; and 15 great nieces and nephews.

Theresa Poehlman, a lifelong Rockaway resident, died December 22.
Poehlman, a homemaker, was born in Rockaway Beach.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck; and brothers, Carmine, Nick and Frank Sarubbe.
Poehlman is survived by her son, Joseph Poehlman; daughter, Antoinette Caffarone; grandchildren, Joseph and Jennifer Poehlman, Douglas, Christopher, Danielle and Charlie Caffarone Jr.; and great-grandchildren Daryl, Dougie, Christopher and Anthony.
