Reggae Sunsplash At North Fork Theatre August 17

LIVE NATION presents REGGAE SUNSPLASH 2006 starring UB40, MAXI PRIEST, THIRD WORLD and Rik Rok at the North Fork Theatre at Westbury on Thursday, August 17 at 7 PM.

UB40, an interracial reggae group from Birmingham, England, began playing together in 1978 and have had several hits including "Red Red Wine," "The Way You Do The Things You Do," "Here I Am," and "Can't Help Falling In Love."

Known as "The King of Lovers Rock," MAXI PRIEST established himself with his 1988 reggae cover version of Cat Stevens "Wild World." His number one hit, "Close To You" topped the charts in 1990. Other hits include his 1991 duet with Roberta Flack, "Set the Night To Music" and his 1996 hit, "That Girl."

Since 1973, Jamaican Reggae stars THIRD WORLD have been mixing in the sounds of r&b, funk, pop and rock with authentic roots reggae. Consistently popular with both roots and crossover audiences, Third World have had numerous hits including "Now That We've Found Love," "Try Jah Love," and "96 Degrees in the Shade." RIK ROK, who also appears, is best known for sharing lead vocals with SHAGGY on "It Wasn't Me." Tommy Cowan hosts this non-stop Reggae Party.
