Newcomer's Guide FREE Inside

Those who look forward to getting The Wave each week will have an extra incentive with this issue.

Everyone who buys the paper on the newsstand this week will get the 2006 Newcomer's Guide, chock-full of everything Rockaway that you need to know.

Those who subscribe to the paper will get their Newcomer's Guide as a separate mailing.

In either case, the 104-page Newcomer's Guide is designed to provide those coming to the peninsula for the first time - as well as long-time residents - with information about such critical items as health care facilities, police and fire information, public, parochial and private school information and where to contact their public officials.

Perhaps less critical, but interesting as well, is information about local restaurants, arts venues, events at the Gateway National Recreation Area, important local events throughout the year, information on local organizations and religious institutions.

"This is truly a guide to everything Rockaway," said Wave Publisher Susan Locke. "The information in the book will be valuable not only for newcomers, but for those who already have sand in their shoes."
