Peninsula Hospital To Host Blood Drive

Peninsula Hospital Center will sponsor a blood drive on Monday, June 5 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Meditation Room at the Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitations, adjacent to Peninsula Hospital Center at 50-15 Beach Channel Drive in Far Rockaway. The drive is being held in conjunction with Long Island Blood Services and New York Blood Center.

Eligible donors should be in good health, with a minimum weight of 110 pounds, and be between the ages of 17 and 75, although older persons may donate blood with their doctor's written permission. In the past some participants who wanted to donate blood have been turned away because of certain medications they were taking, or due to other special circumstances. However, some of the rules have changed and been updated, and those wishing to donate who might have questions regarding their eligibility can call 1-800-933-2566.

Those who donate blood during the drive will be issued a voucher for lunch in the cafeteria. For additional information call (718) 734-2507.
