National Cancer Day Parade On June 3

State Senator Malcolm Smith will serve as the Grand Marshal of the National Cancer Day Parade, in Queens, on Saturday, June 3.

"I am truly honored to be serving as Grand Marshal for the second year in a row. Last year's parade was a great success and I am looking forward to an even better turnout this year. I hope that the entire Queens community will join me and the Mahogany Sisters Network at the parade on June 3, to celebrate life and raise cancer awareness," said Senator Smith.

The parade is presented by the Queens chapter of the Mahogany Sisters Network, an African American breast cancer survivor organization. The parade will begin at Baisley Boulevard and Merrick Boulevard at 10 a.m. and will proceed to York College.

"Cancer is a disease that can be successfully treated if caught early. It is vital to spread information about breast cancer as well as other forms of cancer, and to raise awareness for those who have been affected by it. I am proud to be a part of this event, and I hope this parade will continue to inspire and educate the Queens community for years to come," said Senator Smith.

For more information about the event, contact Senator Smith's district office at (718) 528-4290, or the Mahogany Sisters Network at (718) 525-4313.
