Bishop Ford High School Hosts Blood Drive For Firefighter
Bishop Ford Central Catholic High School held its annual Blood Driver on Monday, May 8, sponsored by the New York Blood Center. Over one hundred people participated. This blood drive was held in honor of Matt Long, a firefighter assigned to Truck 43 in Manhattan, and an alumnus of Bishop Ford. On December 22, while riding his bicycle to the Fire Academy, he was struck by a bus and sustained life-threatening injuries. He has undergone numerous operations and has many more ahead. Matt has received many, many transfusions and the family feels this would be the best way to honor him. Pictured are Bishop Ford blood donors, along with Ray Nash, President of Ford (second from left, first row), and Eddie Long, Matt's brother and fellow firefighter (third from left, first row).
