NYPD-FDNY Battle At Aviator Complex

The 34th annual FDNY-NYPD Fun City Football Bowl game will be the centerpiece for the sneak preview weekend opening of the new Aviator Sports Complex at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn.

The FDNY-NYPD football game, which begins on Saturday at 3 p.m., will be the first of many activities and events surrounding the 75th anniversary of the opening of Floyd Bennett Field, which was originally New York City's first municipal airport. In 1939, the United States Navy took over the airfield which saw heavy use from the start of World War II to the 1970's.

The Aviator Sports Complex, a private public partnership done with the National Park Services, will hold a USO show and gallery opening on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Ryan Center.

A soccer game, featuring the New Jersey State Troopers taking on the NYPD, will introduce the festivities on Saturday at 10 a.m. A beer/food/music garden, a concert starring 2U, a U2 tribute band that starts at 11:30 a.m. and a playing area for kids are a few of the activities scheduled to be held on Saturday.

The Fun City Bowl will be $15 at the door, kids 12 and under free as big crowds are expected for the annual FDNY-NYPD battle.
