Teen Shot In Far Rockaway

A Brooklyn teenager suffered gunshot wounds to his legs last Thursday night as he was walking alone in Far Rockaway, police said.

The 17-year-old victim, Joseph Adolphus, was walking near the corner of Everdell Avenue and Gateway Boulevard at about 10:15 p.m. on May 11, when two black men in a car drove up and fired a single shot, he told police. The bullet went through Adolphus' right calf and then lodged in his left thigh, police said. He limped along Gateway Boulevard towards Beach 19 Street and was met by an EMS ambulance, which took him to St. John's Episcopal Hospital. Police were called upon his arrival. The incident sparked a full mobilization of police in Far Rockaway's 101 Precinct. Police officers canvassed the entire area for suspects and searched for ballistic evidence, but both searches were unsuccessful, according to a police source.

Police said their investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the 101 Precinct Detective Squad at (718) 868-3428.
