"Pin Job' At Duane Reade Parking Lot

A car and a suburban tangled in front of the Duane Reade Parking lot at Beach 116 Street and Beach Channel Drive on May 11, leaving a Rockaway drivers slightly injured and an Oceanside man in the hospital. Police say that Anthony J. Calamia of Cronston Avenue making a left turn from Beach Channel Drive into the pharmacy's parking lot. Police say that Calamia "misjudged" the speed of Oceanside resident Mark Greenberg, who was driving westbound in his 2005 Toyota. The Toyota wound up in the driveway of the parking lot while the 1999 Ford Suburban driven by Calamia stopped on Beach Channel Drive.


Greenberg was pinned in his car by the accident and was extricated by firefighters from Ladder 137. He was taken to Peninsula Hospital Center, where he was treated and later released.
