Seaside Flea Market Opens To Modest Crowds
By Miriam Rosenberg Contributing Editor

Two women check out the goods at the new Seaside Flea Market on Seagirt Boulevard in Far Rockaway.
The open air Seaside Flea Market, the first such flea market in the Rockaways, opened to modest crowds on Mother's Day. While there were various items - from home goods, clothes and antiques to food - on sale, it was obvious that not all vendor slots have been filled, and the success of the market may very well depend on many of those who frequent the surrounding area.

It is located on Seagirt Boulevard, between Beach 11 and Beach 15 Streets near O'Donohue Park and Rockaway Beach, and is open every Sunday.
Potential customers inspect merchandise at the opening of the new Seaside Flea Market on Mother's Day. Bad weather and the holiday may have kept the crowds low on the first day of business.
With Ocean Park Apartments and O'Donohue Park in the background, customers mill around booths at the flea market.
Antiques and works of art are among the items the flea market offers.
