Safe Horizon responds to more than 150,000 Domestic Violence calls and provides 24-hour service; respond time is 13 seconds. The crime victim hotline responds to more than 35,000 calls. Their child advocacy Centers investigate more than 2,000 cases of child sexual and physical abuse. Safe Horizon saves lives, restores victims and pursues justice. It provides a way to turn our outrage and grief into compassion and action. If you overhear or suspect a child is in trouble get on their hot line. If you suspect spousal abuse of a verbal and physical nature call their hot line at 1-800-621-4673 (Hope). The only thing I did not hear addressed was parent abuse; Mom Abuse. Many a Mom faces that because, "When you have children by an abusive man you are more than likely to have abusive children." Work needs to be done in these fields by courts of law, as referred to above, along with counseling members of families. But good work is being done, progress is being made and love and understanding are replacing the evils of physical, verbal and emotional abuse. A better world for all of us. And I quote the closing of the Lord's Prayer, "Deliver us from evil." Helene Danzilo spent a few days in the hospital for heart failure. She is still in Las Vegas with her husband, Peter. However, she was discharged from the hospital on Mother's Day in time to see her daughter, Christine, who came from California to assist Mom. Helene and Peter will be back home in Breezy on May 25. Our prayers are with you, Helene. "Look Ma no Ears" is a fantastic Off Broadway Musical starring multi-talented Lindsey Alley. Some of you may have remembered Lindsey as one of the TV Mouseketeers on Disney Channel's All New Mickey Mouse Club; she was also Annie in Little Orphan Annie. Her credits go on and on. So good, so talented. The book was written by Stephen Winer and Lindsey Alley, with music and lyrics by Bob Stein. Loved every minute of this musical; Saturdays at 8 p.m.; Sundays at 3 p.m. and Tuesdays at 7 p.m. till June 6. It is playing at the Laurie Beechman Theatre, a cafe style place underneath another restaurant at 407 East 42 Street. I highly recommend it. You will have a great time!
