Double Dutch Championships This Weekend

The Sorrentino Center proudly presents the 26th Annual Rockaway Double Dutch Championship , which will take place on Saturday, April 22 starting at 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. City, state and out of state teams will compete.

Stan's Pepper Steppers, along with other city and state teams will compete in the American Double Dutch League City/State Championships at Kennedy Park in Hempstead on April 29.

The Sorrentino Recreational Center have announced registration for the Health Plus/P.A.L./City of N.Y./ Parks and Recreation Little League baseball season, which will start on June 24.

Registration will be on a first come first served basis and will take place at the Sorrentino Center at 1848 Cornaga Avenue in Far Rockaway.

Practices will be held every Tuesday and Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at O'Donahue Park, located at Beach 17th Street and Seagirt Blvd.

Two divisions will consist of 12 and under co-ed and 13-15 co-ed. The Center is looking for kids who will head to high school in the fall or are currently freshman to maintain their skills in the 13-15 division.

12 and under games will be played on Saturdays 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. Afternoon games for the 13-15 year old teams will start at 1 and 3 p.m.

The Little League is also looking for volunteer coaches and officials to apply and participate.

The Sorrentino Recreational Center Fires, Arsenal and Vikings will participate in the City of New York Parks and Recreation Citywide Soccer Tournament. The borough championships will start on Monday, April 22 and the championship will be on Wednesday at Lost Battalion Hall in Rego Park. The winners will advance to the citywide playoffs starting on May 6 at a location to be determined.

The Sorrentino Center winners of the Who's the Man/Can She Hang One on One Citywide Basketball Tournament will compete in the citywide championships on May 7 at Westchester Community College.
