Entrepreneurs Check Out New Flea Market Location

Residents of the Rockaways and surrounding areas came to Beach 17 Street and Seagirt Boulevard to sign up as vendors for the new open air Seaside Flea Market on Tuesday morning. Greeted by Councilman James Sanders, Jr. flea market executive director Alan Finchley and its marketing director Abby Feldman, the entrepreneurs had a chance to get an advanced look at the new market's location.
Among the participants are Far Rockawayites Patricia Frye, who has been in the business of making cheese cakes of all favors for over 10 years; Ronald Williams who sells women's clothing; Renata Scott, who runs a catering business; and Rockaway Beach resident Lena Sundar who will be selling Indian food, while her daughter will be selling clothes.

The youngest vendor, Jessica Star, 11, makes and sells jewelry.
The market will be open on Sundays and Holidays starting on May 14. Finchley told The Wave that the market has an agreement with the city where it will pay a fixed annual rent plus a percentage of the rentals.
