Hillard Davis Construction Worker

Hillard Davis, a longtime resident of Far Rockaway, died April 2. He was 69.

Davis, a construction worker, was born on December 24, 1936 in Boligee, Alabama. Davis was a member of the Little Zion Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir, was active in the junior deacon board and attended church school.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah and Cleveland Davis, Sr.; sisters, Dorothy Brown and Ocie Mae Davis; brothers, Thomas Jane Davis and McArthur "Whistle" Davis, and Pasco Brown.

Davis is survived by his daughter, Doris Davis of Far Rockaway; three sons, Markeith Tyree (Charity) of Huntsville, Alabama, Anthony Davis (Willette) of Birmingham, Alabama, and Andrew Davis of Queens; six grandchildren, Lawrence, Muniyra, Shamera, Aniya, Kenyah, and Markeith II; stepmother, Laura Davis of Boligee, Alabama; 12 brothers and sisters, Deacon Jessie Davis of Los Angeles, California, Nora Davis Dew of Los Angeles, Cleveland "Joe" Davis, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia, Willie Davis of Boligee, Alabama, Deloris Davis Glasper of Calument Park, Illinois, Sadie B. Johnson of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Willie "Buck" Johnson of Detroit, Michigan; best friend, Van Easleley; and many relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home, with visitation and a service at Gaffney's Friendship Chapel. Disposition was held at Oxford Hills Crematory in Chester, New York.

Anne L. Martin

Longtime Rockaway Resident

Anne L. Martin, a longtime Rockaway resident, died April 11.

Martin, who came to the Rockaways in 1943, was born in Brooklyn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis.

Martin is survived by Joan Coogan, Tom Martin, and Nancy Martin; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Camillus Church. Interment was held at Pleasant Valley in Ashland, New York.

Carrie Snow

Domestic Engineer

Carrie Snow, a longtime resident of Far Rockaway, died April 3. She was 84.

Snow, a domestic engineer, was born on November 11, 1921 in Evans, Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; one daughter; one son; and her husband, John Snow.

Snow is survived by her daughters, Wanda Davis of Queens, Mae Edwards of Greenville, Texas, Phyllis Anderson of the Bronx, Lydia Snow of Brooklyn, and Diana Snow-Williams of Orlando, Florida; sons, Robert D. Davis of Midland, Texas, Stanley Snow of Brooklyn, and Rubin Snow of Charleston, South Carolina; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two foster great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home, with visitation and a service at Gaffney's Friendship Chapel. Disposition was held at Oxford Hills Crematory in Chester, New York.
