Sorrentino Soccer Teams Win First Indoor Games

The 2006 Sorrentino Recreational Center/City of New York Parks & Recreation Queens Soccer Season is currently underway. Last Monday, two of boys from the ages of 12 and under won the first games of the indoor season.

At Lost Battalion Hall in Queens Boulevard, the Sorrentino Fires, coached by Ray Desmarets, defeated Vic Hanson Center 3-0. The Sorrentino Arsenal beat Liberty Park 2-0. The game’s official was Miguel Cuellar. Next week, the Sorrentino 2 Vikings will go against Roy Wilkins at Lost Battalion at 5 p.m. and the Sorrentino Arsenal will battle Sorrentino 2 Vikings at 6 p.m.

The Sorrentino Recreation Center have begun registration for the co-ed ages 12 and under basketball tournament. Registration is still available for the 14 and under and 10 and under co-ed tournaments, along with the 16 and under boys, which will begin this month.

The season starts March 14 at Sorrentino Recreational Center. Registration is limited so for those seeking further information, call 718-471-4818. The center is located at 18-48 Cornaga Avenue.
