Columbia University Studies Rockaway

Columbia University’s Graduate School of Urban Planning is working in the Rockaway

community over the next several weeks of the Spring semester. As part of the

requirements of the graduate program, students are assigned to help communities

and learn practical skills of planning by working in a Studio, which is different from a conventional classroom setting. The class held their first studio on Friday, February

3 by driving around the Peninsula with their tour guides, Jate Doremus and Doug MacLeod. Since it was such a rainy day, the students got to see first hand all of the flooding that takes place.
