Pheffer Named To Horse Racing Commission

Assemblywoman Audrey I. Pheffer is among the three nominees Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver is recommending Gov. George Pataki appoint to the Ad Hoc Committee on the Future of Horse Racing in New York State.

The committee is charged with examining the state’s racing industry and developing recommendations to preserve its operations into the future.

“As the Assemblymember that represents Aqueduct and its’ surrounding area, it is important to my constituents that the racing industry be preserved and that whoever is selected to successfully manage the state’s horse racing industry does so with exceptional competence.

In addition, they must be good neighbors. They must be sensitive and willing to accommodate the needs and concerns of the communities that host these racing facilities,” said Assemblywoman Pheffer.
