Air Gun Shootings Injure Two In Edgemere
By Brian Magoolaghan

Two recent air gun shootings in Edgemere have left a teenager and a Chinese food delivery man with head injuries, police said.

The most recent victim, a 14-year-old boy, was looking out of a window on a lower floor at 38-08 Beach Channel Drive on Monday night when he was hit in the head with a BB or a pellet. The boy, whose name is being withheld because of his age, said four black teens, age 12-15, fired at him once, hitting him in the head.

The boy was taken to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition as police searched the area. One BB was recovered, but no arrests were made.

In another air gun shooting last Saturday night, a pair of Chinese food fiends shot and robbed a delivery man, police said.

The delivery man, Ginng Long, 22, was carrying a food order on his bike at about 10:30 p.m. when two black teenagers jumped him at the intersection of Beach 32 Street and Beach Channel Drive. A struggle ensued as Long was toppled from his bicycle. One of the men fired the air pistol and Long was hit with a bb or pellet, which left a cut on his forehead.

Long’s attackers fled with his cell phone, cash and the food. Police searched the area but they could not find the men.

It remained unclear at press time whether police believe the shootings are related.
