Cedo Receives Swimmer Athlete Award

Hartwick College junior swimmer Kurt Cedo was named men’s swimming and diving athlete of the week by the Empire 8 on Monday. A resident of Breezy Point and a graduate of Xaverian High School, it marks the third time this season he has earned the award.

Cedo took first place finishes in the 1,000 freestyle (10:25.55) and 100 backstroke (:54.34) as Hartwick defeated host Fredonia State and Oneonta State in a tri-meet on Saturday. He also swam on the first leg of the winning 200 medley relay team. The Hawks improved to 1—3 with a 158-69 victory over Fredonia and a 167-72 triumph against Oneonta.

Before last week’s tri-meet, Cedo led Hartwick in scoring with 287.25 total team points. The men’s swimming and diving team will be competing at the UNYSCSA Championships held at Nottingham High School in Syracuse, N.Y. from Wednesday, February 22 through Saturday, February 25. The Empire 8 Championship will also be deiced at this event.
