Temple Beth-El To Honor Congressman Weiner

Congressman Anthony Weiner will be the guest speaker at Environmental Sabbath service, which will be held at Temple Beth-El’s Main Sanctuary, Beach 121 Street, on Saturday, February 11 starting at 9 a.m.

The Environmental Sabbath also coincides with the Jewish Holiday Tu B’Shevat, the New Year of Trees. The holiday teaches reverence for nature and works to heighten the consciousness of others in regard to the preservation of the planet.

The congressman will receive a token of appreciation from the congregation for his forward-thinking ideas to the needs of America and Israel, as well as the community which he represents and proposals for the City of New York during this past mayoral campaign. A luncheon in his honor will be held, and the children of the Beth-El Hebrew School will sing holiday songs.
