The Far Rockaway boys’ basketball team has some work to do in the holiday break.
John Adams arrived at Far Rockaway as a tornado and left the peninsula with the same gale force winds in an 83-46 victory last Wednesday afternoon.
The Spartans improved their record to an impressive 7-0 and continued to lead the Queens West “A” Division with 20 points from Robert Gutierrez and Terrell Simmons’ 18 points.
The Seahorses fell to 0-7 as Malcolm Keller scored 20 points. They’ll return to the court on January 3 at home against August Martin. “In some ways, they are starting to learn what to do on the floor,” Chris Frazier said.
“Now we got to put those positives and translate that into a win.”
Bishop Kearney continues to pile up the victories as Maria Laterza poured in 39 points, Caitlin Irwin scored 18 points and Michele Kenel added 13 in their 78-61 victory over St. Francis Prep last Tuesday night.
The Tigers are currently at 7-0, which included two victories last weekend over St. Mary’s 68-47 and a 75-37 blowout of St. Joseph by The Sea.
The Lady Royals of Christ the King did not threepeat as champions of the prestigious nationwide Nike Tournament of Champions. They were eliminated in the semifinals by Long Beach Poly late Wednesday night in Phoenix, Arizona.
