St. Francis de Sales Student Poetry

Fifth grade students at St. Francis de Sales School recently wrote poems about their communities. Here are several selections from the collection of the students' work.

Fun In The Sun

The glow of sandy beaches
Filled with laugh and cheer
The thunder sound of splashing waves
Brings the visitors near.
The smell of food and breeze so dear
The sky so blue and sun so bright
Make Rockaway a place for you
 and your family tonight.

Rockaway

Little drops of water
Little grains of sand
Makes the might ocean
And Rockaway land
This is where I live
Rockaway indeed
There's always people smiling
Look around
You'll see

Belle Harbor

Belle Harbor has beautiful sights
Belle Harbor has beautiful nights
Belle Harbor has beautiful places
Belle Harbor has wonderful faces
Belle Harbor is a great place to stay
Who knows, maybe you'll come its way.

My Harbor, Belle Harbor

My harbor, Belle Harbor
How beautiful you are
You are my home, our home
A home to birds and animals
To young or old
My harbor, Belle Harbor
My home!
Your beaches your sun
Your seasons, what fun!
Party day and night
My harbor, Belle Harbor
Born here, live here, stay here
My harbor, Belle Harbor
What a home!

Roxbury Beach

Roxbury Beach is really fun
You can feel the heat of the summer sun
There are many people you can meet
Skipping up and down the street
The people who live there are just so neat
Roxbury Beach just can't be beat
There are also many games you can play
It's especially fun on the beach in the month of May
So if you're looking for a nice vacation like me
Roxbury Beach is the place to be.

Breezy Point

Come over to Breezy
It would be nice if you do
Also go to the beach
Where the waves are big and blue.
Come over to Breezy
You will have a blast
And maybe you'll go to a great dance.
Come over to Breezy
It's really easy
And never forget
That it's breezy in Breezy.

I Live By The Ocean

I live by the ocean
I always need sun lotion
Rockaway
I live in Rockaway of course
My dad eats a peach
While he's sitting on the beach
Rockaway
I live in Rockaway of course
In the summer
I need a fan
But in the winter
You won't get a tan.
Rockaway
I live in Rockaway of course.
