Search On For Man Who Shot Seven Rounds At Police Officers
Detective for the New York City Police Department are endeavoring to locate Jamal Bryant, who is wanted in connection with an incident on Wednesday in which he allegedly fired a number of shots at police officers patrolling the Edgemere Housing Development. Bryant is described by police as six feet tall, weighing approximately190 pounds and wearing jeans; and a hooded jacket. Police say that, at 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday night, two uniformed Police Officers were patrolling the Edgemere Housing Development. They attempted to stop a male who was acting suspiciously outside of 54-49 Almeda Avenue. The male suspect fled to the rear of that location, resulting in a foot pursuit by the officers. The suspect fired his weapon three times in the direction of the officers. The Officers did not return fire. The suspect continued running a short distance until he reached the vicinity of 440 Beach 58 Street. At that point, the suspect turned and fired his weapon another five times in the direction of the officers. Again, the Police Officers did not return fire. The suspect then fled into 440 Beach 58 Street a building in the Ocean Bay housing complex. A search of the building was conducted with negative results. Ballistic evidence was recovered. There were no injuries to any of the Police Officers.
