St. Thomas More Pee Wee Girls Win Diocesan Championship

The girls of St. Thomas More played St. Francis de Sales on Saturday, November 18, 2006 for the Fall Championship. It was a well-played game by both teams, but the St. Thomas More girls’ won 3 – 0. Michaela Appel did a great job as the goalie for St. Thomas More. She kept St. Francis scoreless saving a penalty kick from going in the goal. Jenny Fahy and Megan Kirk scored the goals for St. Thomas More, Jenny scored 2 and Meagan scored 1.Our midfielders Caroline Kane and Brittney Scheriff did a great job both offensively and defensively. Mairead Gormley in her usual fashion was like lightening all over the field playing an excellent sweeper position. The defensive line of Katie Williams, Laura Keim, Lara Thompson and Amber Ferrin did a great job keeping the ball away from our goal. Our forwards, Annie Dalton, Kyla Tacopina, Melissa Piccione, Quinn Casey, Megan Kirk, Samantha and Rebecca Donnelly all played an excellent game. These girls proved that playing as a team works. Unfortunately, Allie Dripchak, Lauren Durante and Eilise Sammon were missing but we know that they were with us in spirit. The girls of St. Thomas More showed sportsmanship during the entire game. We would like to thank Msgr. Michael Curran for cheering the girls on the sidelines.
