Weiner Gets Seat On Energy And Commerce Committee

Representative Anthony Weiner has been tapped by his House colleagues to serve on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, one of five exclusive committees of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Energy and Commerce has the largest jurisdiction in the U.S. House with principal legislative oversight of telecommunications, public health, air quality and environmental protection, the nation’s energy policy, and interstate and foreign commerce.

“New York City is the big winner,” said Weiner in a prepared statement. “From fixing Medicaid to dealing with 9/11 health issues and lowering gas prices, the Big Apple’s priorities in DC will get even more attention now.

“I’m honored to serve on this distinguished committee and I thank my House colleagues, especially Speakerdesignate Nancy Pelosi, for their support,” he said.

Energy and Commerce’s jurisdiction extends over Health and Human Services, the Energy Department, the Transportation Department, the Federal Trade Commission, the Food and Drug Administration and Federal Communications Commission. C.J.Rotger Celebrates
