Success Bounces On The Courts Of St. Francis de Sales
It was another successful weekend on the hardwood for St. Francis. The Pee Wee B girls roll on. Kayla Kilgallen and Serena Yanello led the scoring in a 16-4 win over Sacred Heart. Jenna Tipaldo and Taylor Veigh played tenacious D and displayed some adept passing to set up their teammates. The Novice squad beat St. Helen behind the offense of Meghan Atwood and Marina Cregan and the defense of Anastasia O'Byrne and Samantha Scaccia.
For the Rookie girls the 3 R's means Ray, Raaf, and Reed. Deirdre, Ashley, and Maegen scored 6 each as they beat St. Stan 30-12. The Intermediates hung tough with Gate of Heaven but ran out of gas at the end despite the tremendous hustle of Taylor Conroy, Danielle Farragher, and Rachel Gersh. Annette Scotto and Rebecca Moers led the scoring.
The Intermediate and Rookie Boys shared the gold, t-shirts that is, in wins over Gate of Heaven, and the Novices beat Our Lady of Grace. The Bantam juggernaut continued despite a valiant effort from a game St. Thomas More squad. Jimmy Wolfer led with 11. Patrick Goldberg added 9 and contributed excellent defense as did Kevin Magee. Ryan Kilgallen continued his dominance in the paint, playing like someone 6 inches taller.
The Pee Wee A's beat Nativity led by Conor Ryan, John Meringolo, and Kevin McDonagh. The B's continued their string of thrillers by edging St. Aloysius. John Whelan, Bard Featherston, and Anthony Scotto led the scoring but it was key baskets by Matt Savastano and Augie Ameruso that secured the win. The Subnovice B's prepped for this week's meeting with the A's in a game against OLPH. Joe Gallo, Frank McVeigh, John O'Connor, Ryan Moran, and Matt Erhard all scored for St. Francis. Brian Ostrander excelled with his passing while Michael Morley collected numerous offensive rebounds.
